Since its opening on Christmas Eve 1959, Caravelle Saigon has gained renown for being at the heart of everything important in Ho Chi Minh City. As a communication hub during the 1960s The Caravelle played an important role during Vietnam War. It was home to the Australian Embassy, the New Zealand Embassy, and the Saigon bureaus of, NBC, ABC and CBS, to name a few.

Michael Robinson, Caravelle’s General Manager, said: “We are extremely proud to launch the new rooms, ballroom and Signature Lounge and look forward to welcoming guests to experience the Caravelle now the refurbishment is complete. The Caravelle Saigon has always had a deep respect for history but not at the expense of comfort and luxury. The decor in the five-star guest rooms meets all the expectations of the modern traveler and businessperson without losing the essence of what makes this hotel a significant landmark in the city’s history.”

In addition to the renovation, The Caravelle has also recently adopted a programme of sustainability measures. The hotel removed plastic bottles from all guest rooms and meeting spaces, the only hotel in Ho Chi Minh City to do so. The hotel has also created its own water filtration system and placed reusable glass bottles in each room along with refill stations on all floors. This action will save 200,000 plastic bottles a year that would otherwise be disposed of in landfills or end up in the ocean. As a result of taking these environmental steps while maintaining five-star standards, the Caravelle was awarded “Best Green Business” at the latest Eurocham awards.
